MIRI: The Kenyalang Smart City Summit (KSC) introduced the latest integrated smart city development project in Miri city by developer company Imasa Dinastia Sdn Bhd which was launched here today.
The launch ceremony was completed by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian representing Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari in his speech congratulated the organizers for successfully attracting investors to attend the conference.
He said, urban development requires proper planning to create an environment suitable for today's modern life.
According to him, urban planning is now evolving from just building shops and residential areas to smart, integrated and sustainable concepts.
"We can see this happening in the planning and development of KSC where various elements are brought together including China's top-ranked universities and convention centers," he said.
He congratulated Sarawak-born Teo Ah Khing who is also the chairman of Imasa Dinasti for successfully combining all the elements that he believes make KSC a smart livable city.
Abang Johari said that the development of this project requires the cooperation of many people, especially from the Miri City Council (MBM) and the private sector.
"I hope that with close cooperation from various parties, KSC can be realized in the time and manner planned.
"I also believe KSC's sustainable development model, its green architectural design, cluster clean energy integration and innovation park including educational and medical facilities and its focus on the community are being defined," he explained.
He believes the quality of the project can be emulated in other parts of the state and invites investors to explore the opportunity.
"KSC is the basis for the future for us to form Sarawak as a developed and high-income region in Malaysia, so I pray that it can be implemented successfully," he explained.
In the meantime, the five speakers started with MBM Mayor Adam Yii, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kuching He Xing Weiping, Invest Sarawak Chief Executive Officer Timothy Ong, Imasa Dynasty Chairman Teo Ah Khiing and ended with the keynote speech by the President of Fudan Institute of Integrative Medicine Professor Dong Jingcheng.
The ceremony also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Imasa Dinastia and seven parties, namely Fudan Institute of Integrative Medicine, China Investment Financial Holdings, Envision Energy Group: KCS, Sinohydro Bureau 12, ESG Malaysia, GreenRE and China Broadnet.
The collaboration between Imasa Dynasty and the Fudan Institute is for the proposed establishment of the Southeast Asian branch of the institute here.
Cooperation with other companies involves potential and business opportunities in the fields of energy, healthcare, entertainment, AI, high speed rail, intelligent ports, infrastructure development, sustainability practices, sustainable green promotion and development, communication, smart infrastructure and smart construction sites.
All guests were then taken to the KSC exhibition site.
Also present were the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, Member of Parliament for Miri Chiew Choon Man and Shin Yang Group Executive Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Ling Chiong Ho.
